Book Description:

The Diamond Sutra is a Mahayana Buddhist text traditionally attributed to the historical Buddha, Gautama Buddha (also known as Shakyamuni Buddha). It is a part of the Prajnaparamita ("Perfection of Wisdom") literature and is presented as a dialogue between the Buddha and one of his disciples, Subhūti.

While the teachings are ascribed to the Buddha, the actual text was likely composed by unknown Buddhist scholars or monastics in India around the 4th century CE. The oldest known printed version of the Diamond Sutra dates to 868 CE and was discovered in the Dunhuang caves in China — it is also the world’s oldest known dated printed book.

About the Author:

This edition of The Diamond Sutra is adapted and presented by Autri Books. While the teachings originate with Gautama Buddha, the text itself is the result of centuries of transmission and interpretation by Buddhist scholars. The Autri Books adaptation honors the classical content while ensuring clarity and readability for modern audiences.
