Book Description:

Journey to the West is one of China’s greatest literary epics — a fantastical blend of adventure, spirituality, and satire. At its heart is the legendary pilgrimage of the monk Xuanzang, who journeys westward to retrieve sacred Buddhist scriptures. He is joined by an unlikely band of protectors: the rebellious and powerful Monkey King Sun Wukong, the gluttonous Pigsy, the morose Sandy, and a loyal dragon-horse.

Together, they face demons, trials, and temptations in a richly imagined world filled with humor, wisdom, and magic. At once a comic romp and a profound allegory of self-cultivation, Journey to the West is a timeless tale of perseverance, transformation, and the quest for enlightenment — a cornerstone of Chinese literature that continues to captivate readers around the world.
