Bram Stoker Collected editions

Bram Stoker (1847 – 1912) was an Irish author and theatre manager whose Gothic masterpiece Dracula became one of the most influential novels in horror literature. Blending folklore, superstition, and the anxieties of a changing world, Stoker’s work helped define the modern image of the vampire.

Before turning to fiction, Stoker worked as a civil servant and drama critic, later becoming the business manager for the Lyceum Theatre in London, where he formed a close friendship with actor Sir Henry Irving. His experiences in theatre shaped the dramatic tension and vivid characterizations found in his novels.

Though best remembered for Dracula, Stoker also wrote The Jewel of Seven Stars, The Lair of the White Worm, and numerous short stories steeped in mystery and the supernatural. Today, Bram Stoker is celebrated as a master of Gothic storytelling, his dark imagination casting a long shadow over popular culture.
