Jonathan Swift Collected editions

Jonathan Swift (1667 – 1745) was an Anglo-Irish satirist, essayist, and clergyman whose works remain some of the sharpest critiques of human folly and political corruption. Best known for Gulliver’s Travels, he used fantastical voyages to satirize contemporary society, science, and imperial ambition.

Swift’s other works — including A Modest Proposal and The Drapier’s Letters — display a biting wit and moral urgency, targeting injustice and hypocrisy. His mastery of irony and allegory made him one of the most influential prose stylists in the English language.

Through his fearless satire, Jonathan Swift reshaped the possibilities of political and social critique in literature.
