Miguel de Cervantes Collected editions

Miguel de Cervantes (1547 – 1616) was a Spanish novelist, playwright, and poet whose Don Quixote is widely regarded as the first modern novel. Blending humor, pathos, and philosophical reflection, the work follows an aging nobleman whose chivalric delusions lead him on a series of misadventures with his loyal squire, Sancho Panza.

Cervantes’s life was as adventurous as his fiction: he served as a soldier, was captured by pirates, and spent years in captivity before his release. His literary output also includes Novelas ejemplares, plays, and poetry, showcasing his versatility and innovation.

Through his groundbreaking approach to character, narrative, and satire, Miguel de Cervantes transformed the art of storytelling and left an indelible mark on world literature.
