Edwin A. Abbott Collected editions

Edwin A. Abbott (1838 – 1926) was an English schoolmaster, theologian, and author best remembered for his satirical novella Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions. Blending mathematics, social commentary, and imaginative storytelling, the work uses the concept of a two-dimensional world to explore themes of perspective, hierarchy, and the limits of human understanding.

Abbott’s career as an educator and scholar informed his writings, which ranged from works on Shakespeare and Latin grammar to theological studies. While much of his output was academic, Flatland endures as a unique fusion of science, art, and philosophy.

Through his creativity and intellect, Edwin A. Abbott left a singular legacy in speculative fiction.
